I am a stay-at-home mom to four kids. The oldest was born in 2003 and the youngest was born in 2007. My oldest child had brain cancer (Medulloblastoma) when he was 3, but he has been out of treatment for 3 years now and he is cancer-free today. Some of the THINGS I love are basketball, trees, computers, strategy games, model trains, cabbage patch kids, taking photos of my kids, and scrapbooking. I'm not very social, and when I am it has to be a small group of people. I like things done a certain way, when it come to my house and yard, and therefore do everything myself. I am a perfectionist. I am sensitive and emotional. I live for today; there is no promise for tomorrow.
Back in the day, I went to college and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree. I immediately went to work for a large A&E firm designing structures. I worked as a structural designer to become a licensed structural engineer, first in Minnesota, then in Arizona where I currently reside. I never wanted to actually design bridges, for I liked designing buildings, such as schools, prisons, warehouses, apartments, etc. And, even though I no longer (at this time) work as a structural engineer, structures and bridges and engineering will always be a part of me and who I am.
My collection of bridge stamps began right after I was married in February 2000. My husband won an Ebay auction for a framed picture which depicted a covered bridge and a mounted civil engineering postage stamp. He bought this as a gift for me. From then on I couldn't stop looking on Ebay and putting my collection together. My husband and I purchased this domain: bridgestamps.com specifically so I could put my collection on this website, almost to replace a shelved album. I figured, what better way to share my album instead of just putting it on a shelf in my house!
